Published: Jan 7, 2020 · Modified: Sep 17, 2022 by Famidha Ashraf with Leave a Comment

2019 just flew by at a lightning speed and we now have a brand new year allowing us to make a better version of everything we are. I am not a resolution person but I sure do love looking back at the year and reminiscing the best moments.
    Most Popular Recipes of 2019
The one activity I look forward to at the beginning of every month and year is gathering reports on how the blog has performed and what posts have made it to the top 10. It gives me an insight into you, the reader's favourites and helps me share more of such recipes. I was really excited to see some of the newest recipes make it to the top 10! Although, this is the first time I am sharing a list of the Top 10 most popular recipes of 2019 and hope to make it a blog tradition going forward.
I gathered these top 10 popular recipes on my blog via a Google Analytics report of total page views of these posts for the year 2019.

#10 Kerala Style Kadala Curry | Black Chickpeas Curry in Roasted Coconut Sauce

This Kadala curry was originally published in 2016 and updated in 2019 with newer images but has always been what I call - better than mom's kadala curry! GET THE RECIPE.

#9 Daoud Basha | Lebanese Meatballs in Tomato Pomegranate Molasses Sauce

The most famous Levantine stew made of meatballs flavoured with Arabic spices (allspice and cinnamon) and stewed in tomato and pomegranate molasses sauce goes superbly well with plain white rice. Daoud Basha - most wanted Simple and delicious dish! 😛 GET THE RECIPE.

    #8 Falafel

I somehow have great hands for making bites like Falafels, cutlets, meatballs, and kebabs 😀 My Falafel recipe is failproof and has no added flour. Black chickpea or white chickpea, I use the same Falafel recipe and it has always come out perfectly fried. GET THE RECIPE.

#7 Horaa Osbao | Harraq Osbao | A Syrian Lentil & Pasta Stew

My personal favourite of 2019! So many of you tried and loved it too so thank you for trusting me! Syrian comfort food of lentils and pasta with fried pita and onions spiced with garlic and coriander! If you haven't I urge you to make it a goal to try this asap. GET THE RECIPE.

#6 Jordanian Mansaf | Lamb Meat Cooked in Jameed Sauce

Another gem of the Arabic food world, Mansaf! Goat milk's dry yoghurt is used for making the sauce that is served with rice and more lamb meat. The national dish of Jordan, a treat for the world! GET THE RECIPE.

#5 My Everyday Banana Bread with Nigella Seeds | First bake in the new Oven

I am not a baker but I am proud of this creation - Everyday banana bread - kalonji and aniseed take this banana bread up a notch and the recipe itself is so easy that any newbie can bake!

#4 Dejaj Salona | Emirati Chicken Stew

I have lost count of how many times I have made this Emirati chicken salona and even now I am not happy with the pics I have for this recipe. Please don't go by the picture, this is the BEST recipe in my blog that we enjoy having at least once a month.

#3 Umma's Lime Pickle without Water

The one and only pickle recipe on the blog - is a lime pickle! I have made it and shared it with almost all my friends and neighbours and I also had taken it back to India for both my moms! 🙂 I was thrilled when Pinterest users made and posted their pics under "Tried this Pin" and like that this became my first recipe to have "Tried this Pin" pictures. Super proud! GET THE RECIPE.

#2 Idli Batter using India Gate Classic Basmati Rice & Split Urad Dal in Butterfly Mixer Grinder

My Idli batter with basmati rice recipe has always entered the top 10 ever since it was published in 2016. Currently, I always use store-bought batter and I am not guilty at all. Choose your battles! But if you have no access to idli rice or raw rice like I had issues while in Yanbu, this recipe will help you make your first batch of batter. Detailed and with tips - GET THE RECIPE.

#1 Layali Lubnan | Lebanese Nights | Semolina Pudding

The most popular recipe on my site for 2019 - Layali lubnan - I am not surprised at all! Totally deserving - GET THE RECIPE.

Thank you so much for baking and cooking my recipes. It truly means the world to me! I hope you will continue to tag and share your recreations! Have a wonderful, healthy, fulfilling 2020!
